Daughter: Allenport woman shot to death by estranged husband feared him

Neighbors said they heard regular arguments during the past few months at an Allenport woman's home where state police believe her estranged husband shot and killed her on Tuesday night.

“There's been domestic violence there with those two ongoing,” said neighbor Phyllis Lazzari. “Something needs to be done, because this is the result.”

Lazzari and other neighbors heard a gunshot around 9 p.m. and rushed to help Jeanne S. Bennati, 51, who was lying on Locust Street. But it was too late, they said. Bennati was pronounced dead by Washington County Coroner Timothy Warco in front of her neatly kept red brick home.

Investigators believe Bennati was shot in the head by her estranged husband, Ryan Lee Foster, 42....
