It was reinforcing and validating heterosexist pediphillic urges, by taking the protagonist POV, not sure that was the overt intent--but it's resonated all these years, and we still see it. The book, inadvertently exposed sexual privledge, but didn't condemn it. Placed the blame on the victim. And for all the fuss and bother about publishing and banning, it's became a meme before there was such a word.

Lolita. A byword for a seductive girl-child. A justification for victim blaming. A book to hide behind.


It's been a long time since I've read it, I remember the prose carrying you through to the end, even as your stomach rolled at the content.
