1. The Biography of Catherine The Great

Not the one by Massie-- I haven't read that, but a different one was the first biography I read over and over. She facinated me as a young woman, and I never heard, or at least paid attention too, rumors of her sex life until much later. They meant nothing in the scope of what she was, what she accomplished for better and worse, yet these are things people will think of when her name is mentioned. Pisses me off, really.
