the surge in handgun popularity has coincided with an effective lobbying campaign, spearheaded by the National Rifle Association, to expand the number of people legally allowed to carry guns in public, and the number of places where they may carry them.

All in the name of the Holy Second Amendment and protection of the right to overthrow the elected government of the United States (for profit).
