considering that there are at least 10 million and possibly as many as 20 million AR-15 type rifles in the hands of private citizens. Any law banning the retail sale of these rifles would only drive up the price on the private sales of such weapons. Banning private ownership would likely lead to long and expensive court cases with doubtful out comes. Unless there is a massive and long term change of hearts and minds among Americans, the curse of these weapons will remain with us for a long time.
