growing up in the 50s in Texas, we never had guns in our home. We felt safe. [View all]

Granted, I lived in a hotel in Dallas where my father was the Manager. It was in a nice part of the city. I never saw or held a gun. My aunt, who lived in Brownwood, had a simple way of dealing with gun bearing men who came to see my uncle, their lawyer. My aunt would gently take their weapon from them, saying sweetly "I'll just put this up for you while you're here."

I guess that was a different time...
