6. As far as I can see, most prominent Dems won't do this because this would anger the big money

contributors. And less prominent Dems go along because they are supposed to, "for the good of the party", for some "legacy", or whatever. The actual needs of citizens seem to become quite unimportant once a lot of dems get to Washington.
