Why do we link to posters like the author

Who have virtually no profile and even with negative comments elevate folks that have absolutely no exposure.

I realize that in googling the author that he is on facebook, twitter and linkedin but is that really the new bar to consider publishing random comments. What's next? publishing the random comments of "Jake" who was sitting on the bar stool next to you in the bar down by the race track?
