8. Isaac Asimov wrote a story called Nightfall.

It was about a planet that had multiple suns, and there were almost always at least a couple of them in the sky, and when once every thousand years or so they all set and darkness fell, the people on the planet went crazy because they couldn't handle the darkness. But I'm not familiar with the novel you mention.

Incidentally, there have been a couple of attempts to make Asimov's Nightfall into a movie, but they didn't do it right. As I said in another post in this thread, when they start taking liberties with a classic original, they ruin it.
