7. An NGL pipeline through Kentucky was stopped (or at least delayed)

Grassroots resistance can sometimes win (although the pipeline company claims it was the market rather than the resistance that stopped the pipeline). http://www.courier-journal.com/story/tech/science/environment/2014/04/28/bluegrass-pipeline-put-hold/8430261/

I think the key is getting enough people engaged. The representatives from the gas companies were caught lying, bullying, threatening and trespassing. So getting to potential landowners early is very important.
