Her off-court earnings, though, are unprecedented for women basketball players. $3.5 million per year for 8 years with Nike, plus there are escalators. That's just Nike.
So, there's a pretty big mattress full of money for her to fall back on.
But, as to actual basketball contract value compared to her value to her team & league, yeah, she's underpaid. By a lot.
