Former UConn star Nika Muhl suffers torn ACL in first game with overseas team [View all]

Former UConn star Nika Muhl suffered a torn ACL while playing for Besiktas in Turkey on Thursday, the club announced.

It was her first game with the Istanbul-based team.

The injury occurred after Muhl grabbed a loose ball during the third quarter of the team’s EuroLeague SuperCup game against Fenerbache. Muhl fell to the floor and grabbed her left knee, screaming in pain. She was taken off the court in a stretcher, and eventually returned to the bench ahead of the game’s final moments.

Former Husky Gabby Wiliams, who plays for Fenerbache, could be seen rushing to Muhl’s side after she went down and consoled her as the stretcher came out. The two shared an embrace after the game.
