Stephen Curry does it all -- and proves he can't do it alone in Warriors loss [View all]

Curry led his depleted team into Game 3 of the NBA Finals as the only serious scoring threat on the Warriors. And despite being the complete and total focal point of Toronto’s defense, Curry set a personal postseason record, with 47 points. It wasn’t enough. The Warriors lost 123-109. And now the Raptors have taken a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series ...

He scored almost half the Warriors’ points. Curry only had one foul and two turnovers in 43 minutes to go with the 47 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two turnovers. In the ugly, messy first quarter, Curry scored 17 points. He made or assisted on nine of the Warriors ten baskets. Throughout the game, he even had several “hockey assists” - the assist to the assist.

He kept finding his teammates, but they usually couldn’t find the basket. Their shooting percentages were ugly.

The Warriors are fiercely protective of Curry because they know that, without him, none of this happens. Not the winning, but also not the culture, not the joy, not the entire Warriors experience.

He’s brilliant. But he’s also tough and determined and gave everything he had. But it wasn’t enough. Because the Raptors scouting report was correct: he really can’t do it alone.
