Make no mistake, the drive behind legalization is driven by revenues for somebody. It doesn't matter if it is the growers, the corporations who want a chunk of the cash, or even the politicians that collect campaign cash from donors--everything in Illinois is a transaction for somebody.

I was hearing from the med marijuana community before the election that Pritzger (our current Governor) knew that recreational was not gonna be here in Illinois until 2020. Even at that time, they were saying the rush was put on it because the revenue was going to be higher if Illinois could get legalization passed and active before Michigan did. Our Medical Marijuana program was seriously handicapped by the prior Republican Governor's buddies, and if we are being totally honest, there is a LOT of work to be done on that as well. I haven't seen a huge amount of improvement in that program in the last few months (since Pritzger was inaugurated) either. They need to expand the list of qualifying conditions, and they need to get the access to dispensaries. NONE of that has happened yet.

If I had to guess, the legislature is going to blink. Not gonna lie, I've heard more than one person speculate that there's money flowing under the tables to make sure of that delay. I will be amazed if they pass anything to legalize, let alone allow for home grow.

YMMV.
