(113,130 posts)Once cooked, it can be soups, dips, spreads, loaves, patties, and other preparations. They're limited only by the size of your spice collection and creativity. Some can be sprouted to provide you with enough vitamin C to avoid pricey fruits at the supermarket. The fiber will keep you regular and the gas will decrease as your body acclimates to them.

Beans and grains give you the biggest bangs for the food buck and their amino acids combine to give you complete protein you might think you can get only from meat. I've lived for years at a time on beans and grains when my health went into the pan and money ran short. There is nothing cheaper than dry beans, bulk grains, and root vegetables.
