Now its 2, so he has gone down 5 points. You may dismiss enthusiasm but people who have run campaigns don't. It is a important factor. Historically the Republican candidate does better in polling in the summer and early fall. That is when pollsters start to poll likely voters instead of registered voters. Republicans usually do better among likely voters.

As we know, Trump does not need to win the popular vote. He can win the electoral college with 46-47% of the popular vote. Ignore that if you wish.
