'We're right back where we have always been': Trump scapegoats DEI in DCA plane crash - Velshi - MSNBC [View all]

Trump’s politicization of the plane crash outside of Reagan National Airport isn’t just deeply offensive – it’s reckless endangerment of the American public.

This rhetoric is part of a broader right-wing campaign to dismantle diversity, equity, and inclusion programs across the federal government and private sector. “It is a decidedly racist, sexist, and masculinist agenda,” says Eddie Glaude, Distinguished Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University.

And it reinforces the false, racist claim that meritocracy and diversity cannot co-exist, says Melissa Murray. “When we didn't have DEI policies, when we prioritized the hiring of white men, we were effectively looking at only half of the talent pool.” - Aired 02/01/2025.
