Let's talk about Hegseth firing the Secretary of the Navy.... - Belle of the Ranch [View all]
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Hegseth firing the Secretary of the Navy.
Reporting has come out that Hegseth has pushed now former Secretary of the Navy John Phelan out. He's just the latest person in Defense Department leadership that Hegseth is told you can't sit with us. The under-secretary of the Navy has reportedly taken over in an acting capacity immediately.
The move was surprising because Trump and Phelan were reportedly on friendly terms. They run in the same rich people's circles. It's also surprising to see a sudden change of civilian leadership at the Navy during the middle of, you know, a massive naval blockade that Trump and Hegseth promise is doing really well.
The official statement didn't shed much light on the situation. It was simply quote, "Sary of the Navy John C. Phelan is departing the administration effective immediately." But it didn't take long for rumors to start leaking out about what happened.
There are two competing rumors, but honestly, there's nothing mutually exclusive about them. The first is that the former secretary wasn't following Hegseth's orders the way he wanted him to and wasn't dancing to Hegseths tune. So Hegseth was basically like, "I do believe Marcelus Wallace, my husband, your boss, told you to take me out and do whatever I wanted. Now I want to dance. I want to win. I want that trophy. So dance good."
When that didn't work, Hegseth pushed him out. The other rumor is that Hegseth was a little jealous of the close relationship Phelan and Trump have and is lashing out because he's worried about his own job due to the less than promised results of the Iran war as the four-week operation enters its eighth week.
There's another rumor about it having to do with some ship building ideas that the former Secretary of the Navy has, but that seems incredibly unlikely to be the actual cause. Keep in mind, Hegseth has pushed out a number of high-ranking military personnel and civilian leadership in DoD.
More speculation comes from the idea that the blockade is failing as reporting comes out that Iranian ships are slipping through Hegseth and Trump's net. Meanwhile, Iran is seizing ships. Trump has extended the ceasefire without gaining his desired concessions and Iran has said they haven't agreed to an extension of the ceasefire.
The Trump administration said he extended the ceasefire to give time for Iran to work out what he believes are internal power struggles. You know, as opposed to the US that doesn't have internal power struggles. There are times when I'm really starting to wonder how much attention he pays to things going on around him and how often he gets things confused.
In related news, Trump is reportedly sending thousands of more troops to the region to deal with an opposition force he constantly says is defeated in a war he continually says is over. More information will come out about all of this, but the current indications are that Trump's Iran mess is at an impasse and despite his talking points is unresolved.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
