4. Is an intimidation handshake

The way the orange man shakes hands is an old tactic to establish dominance over others. It's used effectively to make a first impression as the Alpha male on someone you wish to immediately intimidate. The problem with that is used too often allows the person whose hand is being shaken to counter the maneuver by employing it first, squeezing harder than the other, or squeezing it enough to neutralize the other's handshake.

I've had the Alpha Male handshake tried upon me and what I do is let them squeeze as hard as they can. I have a high pain tolerance and I haven't meet a handshake I can't withstand. As they're squeezing, I don't make a face but continue talking in a normal voice. It drives the other person crazy when the can't get me to react.

While in the AF, I had a Senior NCO who liked to come up behind people and squeeze the muscle above the shoulder. I'd seen him do this enough times so when he pulled it on me I didn't react. I simply told him he needed more practice and that ended that behavior.
