That's happened. In at least one case, it was a teenaged boy. Even after Anonymous admitted they were wrong and issued a tepid "apology," the kid continued to receive death threats, and Anonymous continued to insist they were right to call attention to what was by then clearly a false allegation.

I'm trying to find a news article about this.
