On Thursday evening, the Wall Street Journal published a bombshell report on letters allegedly gifted to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein for his 50th birthday and compiled in a 2003 album by Ghislane Maxwell, also a convicted sex offender. According to the newspaper, among the dozen of letters from Epstein’s associates was a note bearing Donald Trump‘s name outlined by a drawing of a naked woman that also enclosed the text: “We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.”

The president denied that he wrote the letter or drew the picture in an interview with the Journal on Tuesday, threatening to sue the newspaper if it published the story. “I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women,” he said, according to the Journal. “It’s not my language. It’s not my words.” Despite the president’s insistence that’s he’s never doodled during his 79 years on earth, there is plenty of evidence to the contrary.

Take for example, this mediocre sketch of the Manhattan skyline drawn by Trump that raked in $30,000 at an auction. Featuring the Trump Tower at the center, the picture was created by the now-president two decades ago for a charity event.

Then there’s the marker drawing of the Empire State Building Trump scrawled for another charity auction in 1995, which sold in 2017 for $16,000.

The possibility of rebuilding the Alcatraz prison as a new holding pen as Donald Trump makes plans to ramp up U.S. incarceration rates may be in doubt according to an estimate on the projected cost.

That is according to a report from Marc Caputo at Axios, who wrote on Friday morning that the massive overhaul of the building now used as a tourist attraction could top $2 billion.

On Thursday, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum toured the island in San Francisco Bay and hyped up the possibility that the Trump administration is invested in reclaiming it.

"Two administration officials say Trump hasn't made a final decision on what he wants to do with the island, and it's unclear what the precise costs would be," the report states before adding that one person involved in the proposal admitted, "We're still in the early stages. We need a lot more study, a lot more specificity, before the president decides. But $2 billion might just be too much money for him."

Trump was examined for swelling in his legs and has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, the White House announced Thursday.

Trump, 79, underwent a “comprehensive examination, including diagnostic vascular studies” with the White House Medical Unit, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, reading a note from the president’s physician, Capt. Sean Barbabella.

Barbabella’s letter, which was later released by the White House, states that “bilateral lower extremity venous Doppler ultrasounds were performed and revealed chronic venous insufficiency, a benign and common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70.”

The examination came after Trump had “noted mild swelling in his lower legs” over recent weeks, Leavitt said.

Among the cuts are $800 million for a program that provides emergency shelter, water and sanitation and family reunification for those who flee their own countries and $496 million to provide food, water and health care for countries hit by natural disasters and conflicts. There also is a $4.15 billion cut for programs that aim to boost economies and democratic institutions in developing nations.

Democrats argued the Trump administration’s animus toward foreign aid programs would hurt America’s standing in the world and create a vacuum for China to fill.

Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, said the amount of money it takes to save a starving child or prevent the transmission of disease is miniscule, even as the investments secure cooperation with the U.S. on other issues. The cuts being made to foreign aid programs through Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency were having life-and-death consequences around the world, he said.

“People are dying right now, not in spite of us but because of us,” Schatz said. “We are causing death.”

Toward the end of the Biden administration, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) spent about $800,000 on high-energy biscuits used to help people impacted by natural disasters or fleeing war, according to a report by The Atlantic. Following Donald Trump‘s return to the White House, the food meant for children in Afghanistan and Pakistan reportedly languished in a Dubai warehouse as Trump and former DOGE chief Elon Musk dismantled much of the federal government, including the government’s foreign aid department.

The publication said that previously, career staff could have handed off the biscuits to the World Food Programme to distribute them, but employees said that since Musk’s so-called DOGE devastated USAID — firing and placing thousands of workers on leave — aid items cannot move without the new political leaders of the agency. And while the responsibility originally was given to Trump appointee Pete Marocco, it passed to Jeremy Lewin, who became deputy administrator for policy and programs for what’s left of USAID. (Rolling Stone previously reported on Lewin’s alleged history of violence and racist remarks.) Staffers who sent the memos requesting approval to move the emergency food said they never got a response, however, and its unclear if either Marocco or Lewin ever received the memos.

Now, enough food to feed about 1.5 million children for a week — equal to nearly 500 metric tons of emergency food — is set to expire today, The Atlantic reports. Despite Secretary of State Marco Rubio ensuring representatives on the House Appropriations Committee in May that food aid would reach its intended recipients, the Trump administration reportedly plans to spend $130,000 to burn the biscuits instead of sending them to children in need.

While improper food storage, a flood, or a terrorist group may lead to a few dozen tons of food aid being lost a year, a USAID staffer said that he has never witnessed this many biscuits wasted over his decades with the agency.

I don't think Epstein said "You know, Don, I like them young. Legal of course, over 18, and I do check IDs."

That never happened.

I think Trump knew exactly who and what Epstein was, and felt the need to high-five him for it.
