Born in 1968. I was Army officer, 1967-1995. Was stationed in Germany when she started college -- left her in college in Mississippi with an old car and a few bucks. She turned out to be an honor student, sorority chair, and other school honors.
When wife and I retired, we hit a rough spot financially and were not able to help her or her brother. Daughter worked as a secretary, put herself through grad school, taught high school government, history, civics for 9 years AND was girls' volleyball coach. She took a team that was a regular cellar dweller and in her second year, they took regional championship then were regular finalists in state championship, won a few times.
She went to a big-time law school on partial scholarship and now is partner in a big white-shoe DC firm where she does family law.
She raised $1 million for Obama's first term; $3 million for his second term and $4 million for Hillary. She was DEVASTATED on election night 2016 but she vowed that would never happen again.
Her former students and volleyball players stay in touch with her, a couple of them named one of their kids after her (!!). She's a single lady and all the children of her students and players love her -- invite her to their birthday parties, graduations, and the like.
She raised $4 million for Biden in 2020 and has brought in $5 million for Harris. Not only that, but she has spent the last six weekends at her own expense, travelling to swing states and ringing doorbells for Harris -- all the while keeping a huge workload of clients and arranging small gatherings with people who can write big checks.
She just texted me -- she's home from canvassing in Pennsylvania all day today. She's having a small gathering in her Capitol Hill townhouse tomorrow -- food prepared by one of DC's best-known chefs (who is a huge Democrat) -- guests are a dozen or so Democratic Party heavy hitters.
Meanwhile -- she's worn out, fixing a margarita and going to crash -- and she's happy.
WE WILL WIN THIS THING BECAUSE OF HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE LIKE THIS.
If you have not voted, on Tuesday, get off you butt and VOTE for the first women President!!
