(339 posts)That we are alone. The Democratic Donor Class, for whatever their reasons, don't want to listen to the people.
The so-called "movers & shakers" think they know best for the party, therefore the nation. I say, that they're wrong.
No matter what, WE THE PEOPLE, have the final say. No matter how many billions they have in the bank, they have the same number of votes...one. And there are more of US than there are of THEM.
They want to stamp their feet and get their way; 14 million people spoke, and that's it. We're ridin' with Biden. They can either get on and pitch in or get off and get out of the way.
I don't take counsel from political backbenchers, backstabbers, professional pundits with their unnamed sources, skeevy pollsters, and especially skeerdy cat political leaders who don't have the heart or the stomach for a fight. "These are times that try men's souls" wrote Thomas Paine. "The summer soldier and sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands now, deserve the thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered."
We are faced with the greatest existential threat to this democracy since The Civil War. Yes, there were fascists among us during World War 2, but their leader, was in Germany and even then, we were at war against them. But this is different; the call is coming from inside the house and it's The Republican Party led by their MAGA leader, Donald Trump.
Make no mistake, he and they are a threat. And I'm not being hyperbolic. They are reminiscent of the of the Black Shirts of Mussolini's fascist Italy, and he, their "Il Duce" wannabe. What's even more insidious, is the cooperation of the media in their exaltation of Trump to the point of fealty. And we've seen this movie before:
The media is acting as their stenographer rather than the watchdog to power. Of course, because of consolidation, 5 companies own 90% of the media outlets in the world.
But all hope isn't lost. Donald Trump, despite MAGA propaganda, isn't a popular candidate; he lost the popular vote twice. And in increasing numbers both times. And despite what the corporate, for profit media wants to convince you, Biden is far more popular than Trump. Despite the poor performance of Biden in the debate and Trump's near assassination attempt, both men are within 3 points of each other in various polls in June. And with the nonsensical Republican National Convention, and Trump's selection of J.D. Vance, it's very unlikely that they will gain any momentum toward November. So this IS a very winnable election for Biden/Harris. Biden has the record of performance, the confidence of a cohesive team and incumbency. Not to mention, a very capable and accomplished Vice President in Kamala Harris.
There isn't anything the summertime soldiers of the Democratic Party can do unless Joe wants to do it. He has control of the delegates, money in the bank and popular support. Not to mention a beatable adversary who is a convicted felon and whose associates are also convicted felons and reprobates. There are more of us than there are of them-never forget them. We come out; we win. It's as simple as that. Keep the faith.
