I think the common denominator is Fox. The cable channel was launched in 1996, and the hatred of all things progressive and racial animosity began to follow. It has always been there and had been exploited by Republicans like Reagan and Nixon, but Fox brought it into the open. Civil discourse has been damaged, perhaps forever, and citizen divided against citizen to support Fox earnings and the Republican Party. Foxs success led to followers, and hate radio seems to be big business today. We have not only an anti-democracy political party to fight but also multiple media outlets who stoke hatred and anger for profit, caring not at all that they are helping destroy democratic government.

Don't kid yourself that any polling error is hiding some HUGE shift in support for Trump

In the South it has much to do with racism. Personal experience cause that's where I keep all my stuff.

Some republicans, especially women, are afraid to tell a pollster what they really think.
