Showing Original Post only (View all)About JD Vance and his "entreaty" to women to stop working and raise families. [View all]
1. Why not men stop working and raise families?
2. Why do rich women both don't work and raise families? Because they have nannies and au pairs.
3. When women stop working, they don't have access to their own money. When you have no money, you are beholden to your patron, often your father or your husband.
4. When you have no money, you have no power over your own decisions. Men choose for you.
5. When you have no money, you are more likely to be locked into a marriage that doesn't recognize you as a viable partner.
6. JD Vance is not saying the quiet part: Women are relegated to the roles our ancestors had to accept: maid, cook, chauffeur, marital prostitute, hostess, babysitter, slave, baby-maker, etc.

OP
Republicans in some states have also been trying to ban no-fault divorce to make it harder for women to leave spouses.

My father's mother was more or less sold into marriage by her brother in 1904.

Uh, excuse me. For most of us common folk, it takes both husband and wife working to make ends meet.

You know what would solve that problem? Another tax cut for billionaires and corporations.

Bet JD would be a lot happier, and probably at least marginally better at, being a stay at home Dad.

Even for a woman who wants to do that. Their corporate overlords have made that impossible.
