I would laugh but it's not funny... [View all]

According to the media, all of a sudden, all these millions of people are interested in “issues” and “policy”. Did these people fucking give a shit about policy when Trump said that the pandemic and the disease was a hoax and it would just disappear by itself? Were they issue-oriented when he made a deal with the Taliban and even invited them to Camp David for the big anniversary? Were they interested in the details of policy when he was separating families and imprisoning children in literal cages?

Of course, many of us were but apparently many Americans don’t give a shit about “policy” as the media defines it. What they give a shit about is how they feel that day, and whether their favorite show was renewed for another season or if the package came from Home Shopping Network or equivalent. These Americans care about how their ball team does, or if they have children how they made out in school that day.

Americans do not sit around chess boards, trying to anticipate what is going to happen due to shifts in the “policy“ of the federal reserve. They just go to refinance their mortgages and when they see what they believe to be a higher rate than they’d like, they refer back to the canard that the Democrats are to blame for…for everything.

Do you know how I know this? Because when Trump was nominated and elected president all those years ago, some of the Democrats started talking about nominating Oprah next time. This is the level of stupidity in this country, that anybody can do any job because “how hard could it be?“.

There is no question that there are millions of people with computers or handheld devices, as they call them, in this country who feel they could be president of a steel company or an airline or a pharmaceutical company because there’s nothing to know. You just go in there and, look at the choices and say OK will do this one. This is really what they think.

The reason I know this is I’ve had literally hundreds of people tell me this from being a senator or president down to managing a professional ball club. “I could do a better job, I know this for a fact.“ Is a common expression I hear , these people are not kidding. They really do believe that in their heart of hearts.

As a going away present for this post, I’ll tell you a funny story. I treated the sisters of an NBA coach who was fairly revered in the two cities in which he coached. One of the sisters told me a story that he was waiting in line for some food and a fellow came up to him and asked him why he hadn’t made a certain substitution at a certain point and that he wasn’t managing his players properly. and the coach looked at him and said, “Well, I happen to know, and you do not, that all week in practice he couldn’t hit a 12 foot jumpshot from any angle, which is something which figured in my decision . So I decided not to use him this week until he gets his act together.“ Apparently the guy just looked at him and slinked away.

The VP better just beat the shit out of him tonight or everyone on the tv is going to say that she’s weak and not up to the job. No matter what, he will pronounce victory and utter defeat of his enemy. This is actually worse than professional wrestling, and I never thought I would be able to say that. He is the lowest of the lowest of the low and I can’t write here what I wish.

There are three types of people: people who make things happen, people who watch things happen, and people who say, “What happened??” Most Americans are in the last category…never forget it.
