the enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend, but they can be a useful temporary ally, viz. Churchill and Stalin. “If Hitler invaded Hell I would make at least a favorable reference to the Devil in the House of Commons," said Churchill when his alliance with Stalin was questioned. Same goes here.
