But I am a gay man, and I know Jews are frequently the canary in the racism coal mine. As soon as people become comfortable in polite company to start expressing (and behaving with) bigotry towards them, my community is often right behind.
It is gobsmacking how this antipathy towards Jews - not Israel, but Jews - is allowed as openly as it has been in this space.
I just don't see how anyone who is a Democrat can watch these deeply, deeply racist sentiments - no matter how poorly they're cloaked - and think, "This is fine. Yes. I want this thinking in my political space. We should be welcoming of this viewpoint."
People often like to boast, "If I were in Germany in the 1930s, I would have never gone along with . . ."
Well, it's America 2024 and they're not managing even the simplest push back. And that's with the hindsight of not that distant history. Given this, I don't think they'd fare any better in the 1930s. Some of them would probably be the ones reporting neighbors for their, uh, Zionism.
