I find it hard to believe fuel was the issue. Since the distance was from the event to nearby parking.
Looking at the map of the area it doesn't make sense.
The 'crowd went wild' explanation feels more plausible to me. More on brand.
But often times it's more likely multiple things will be at play so one never knows.
