In reply to the discussion: Pete Buttigieg with the only acceptable answer RE: "late term abortions" [View all]its medically NECESSARY to save the mother.
This is not true. Third-trimester abortions can stem from a later fetal diagnosis or even simply an inability to get to a facility that provides abortions at advanced gestational age. They don't necessarily depend on the health of the pregnant person.
..abortion in the third trimester is when theres no chance of life.
That's also not true. Third-trimester abortions often require an injection to stop the fetus' heart before its body is delivered.
No one has ever said 'NO there is no late term abortion' unless its medically necessary with being death imminent. And the decision is usually made very quickly..who has time to 'talk to a priest' when you're bleeding out...somewhere! In a public restroom??? In a car in the hospital parking lot?
Again, third-trimester abortions don't always stem from "imminent death." And third-trimester abortions can take days; they're not necessarily emergent situations.
