90% of Nazi casualties were on the Eastern Front. The Soviets lost 20 million people. Hitler committed suicide rather than face the Red Army when they took Berlin. The brutality of the Nazi-Soviet confrontation is hard for us to conceive. Hitler's plan of genocide included the Slavs, who he called Untermenschen (subhuman). He tried to exterminate the Slavs to make Lebensraum for his "master race".
