(9,617 posts)66. Of my parents and grandparents, only 1 made it past 80 without severe dementia.
Dad died at 78 with dementia and Parkinson's. Mom died at 91 but had dementia for 12 years.
Dad's mother died at 78 of dementia. His father died of cancer at 78.
Mom's father died at 65 of an embolism. Her mother died at 93, and was healthy until her early 80s when her health began to decline precipitously.
Very few people are physically and mentally fit to be president at such an advanced age. Bernie Sanders is still very articulate, but he's probably the rare exception, and I'll bet even Bernie tires more easily than in the past and may not be up to the jet-setting international travel demands of a U.S. president.
We really do need age limits for the presidency.
