4. Some older guys have a mildly invasive sense of humor.

I am an old guy who keeps to himself when in public. There was a minister, older that I, who visited the same restaurants as I did. He might see me working a crossword puzzle at a table and come up from behind me and say, jokingly in his soft voice, "I can finish any answers which you can't get."

That older minister never irritated me. About six years ago, I heard him gently talking to a fellow he was having lunch with. The minister said that he recognized that Trump had personal failings, but he approved of Trump's court appointments.

Yes, the stranger coming up from behind the woman and offering a comment was inappropriate, in the 1940s and even more so in the 2020s. His spying on her ballot and mentioning his opposing vote border on voter intimidation. My only point is that I do not know how far along the spectrum of rudeness that fellow falls.
