I got all of my paperwork completed by mid February and it’s been a waiting game ever since. The loans got passed back to Dept of Ed at one point I think and then sent back to Mohela.
One thing that saved me:
At the time (idk if it’s still an option) but they encouraged me to consolidate my loans as I applied for PSLF. Some of my loans didn’t qualify for forgiveness, BUT if I consolidated before April 30th they would then all become eligible for forgiveness. That deadline had been December at one point and they extended it and I think it had been extended a time or two before that. So it may still be an option? I really didn’t even know this was a possibility.
My mom was always asking about my loans and what I was going to do about them… she passed away suddenly December 1st last year and I decided I needed to get my shit together and call to figure something out. The guy I spoke to was so nice and told me about everything and talked me through what the whole process would be like.
My mom loved Joe Biden and she’d be very happy he helped me out of this mess.
