And although a good point re: opinion pieces, I don't believe they have much effect overall. Many who post on this site spend a lot, and IMO sometimes an inordinate amount, of time on all matters political. A comparison could be made to sports. 40+ years ago I could name every player on the Denver Broncos, attended a lot of their home games, and could name all of the starting quarterbacks/wide receivers and others on the other teams. Today? None. I couldn't care less, no interest at all in the sport.

What we fail to realize is that there are millions out there with the same attitude regarding politics, they really don't care. Their pastor told them to vote for X, their neighbor said Y, and with everything going on with all of the social media sites it comes down to not much thought regarding who gets their vote or why. Too many immigrants crossing the border? The price of gas, food and rent too high? I was better off four years ago than right now? Israel/Palestine? Well then, I'm voting for X.

I'm really not sure how much of a news junkie I'm going to be going forward. I'm not going back to football, but I'm considering a new outlet for my spare time.
