(10,888 posts)I guess I've just always seen roe as a compromise. When the poster talked about "no compromise" it just triggered my thought that roe was the damn compromise -- a compromise we did a decent job of working with, and around, for half-a-century.
I want that old compromise back.
And, FWIW, that article has prompted shifts in a couple Christians I know who were slipping into the insane "my way or the highway" Christian Nationalist model of control. Both have come back to what I think they always believed -- that our government must not impose law that reflects beliefs that are not shared. And if you ever do happen to be confronted by someone slipping into Christian Nationalism, I find it to be helpful to remind the person that the opposite of faith isn't doubt -- doubt is a normal part of faith. The opposite of faith is control. When we start deciding it is up to us exert control over the lives of others, we have clearly lost all faith.
