I keep remembering one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies when the British East India Company finally shows up and the governor is told loyalty to the crown is no longer the currency of the realm. something close to that.
my point is money can buy anyone who has no boundaries.

to me no you are not paranoid to me thinking there could be a political 5th column. it was used in WWII.
