30. The FBI is under the executive branch

so yes, a president has this power.

One would hope a president would use it for political appointees only, to defend the nation, and not against political enemies as a weapon. But keep in mind who the next president will be.

Trump will use this as a precedent he will exploit to “go after” his political enemies. I expect he will do that anyway, since he “randomly” audited Comey and others — that probably was the plan. Expect a lot of character assassination and blackmail.

So I say, do it. Maybe we can stop the most compromised picks from going through. But red state and district residents will have to pressure your senators and congresspeople. Let them know we know what they know and are watching them.
