68. Actually, I'm in the camp in which I think Trump's second term will be

even worse than the first term was. My worst fear is he could cause a second great depression and create a fascist state. I read Project 2025 about year ago when it first came out and was mortified by it and got behind Harris despite her not being my top choice for a nominee because it was just that bad. I don't know why you would think I would believe something outrageously stupid such as thinking that I would believe Trump's second term wouldn't be bad. I have friends and family member who will get screwed over by Trump's policies such as if he gets rid of ACA and the tariffs that he would implement will affect their small businesses. I don't get any joy out of seeing MAGA idiots suffer at the expense of seeing people I care about suffer. That's like telling me my worst enemy gets to have their legs chopped off but in return I get my arms chopped off. That is a pretty crappy exchange in which no side wins.

I have lived in the South for most of my life. I have lived in NC since I was 11 and I'm 41 now. I mention this because I have more exposure to the MAGA types compared to the regular person on DU due to being in the South and know how they think. I can tell you assuming that the MAGA idiots are going to wake up after everything is burned to the ground is dangerous thinking. It's not guaranteed they will change their minds. They are already in too deep in the Trump cult. If anything, they will double down harder and blame everything on the democrats. That's how I see this playing out granted I would love to be wrong, and see them come to their senses, but I don't think it will happen. I have dealt with nut job conservatives for most of my life and it's very rare they ever admit when they are wrong. I didn't see it during the George W Bush years despite all of his fuckups they still would double down on supporting him and I don't think I will see it in this second Trump term.

Realistically these people will never see the light because they are blinded by hate and vengeance against minorities, lgbtq, etc. The only hope the country has and the democrats have is that the people who didn't vote realize how bad the situation is with Trump and come out and vote to save the country like they did in 2020.
