In her will to be used as a kind of gathering place for diplomacy. It was expensive to maintain and security was a problem, so the government gave it back to the estate. In the 1980s, having bankrupted several casinos and ruined the Plaza, Donald Trump bought Mar-a-Lardo, and, following in the footsteps of his forebearers, set it up as a whorehouse. Anything of value was sold and replaced by cheap gaudy imitations. Renovations were done to document storage, and an omelette bar was set up.
