It seems to me there is much that could have gone wrong. I'm thinking a real professional hit man would have looked for an opportunity that had fewer bystanders, one of whom might have decided to be a hero.

But maybe this is the easiest way to make such a hit.

It certainly wasn't a random act, or a street gang. It was clearly an assassination with the element of surprise, disguise and a good escape plan. He probably ditched the outer layer of clothes in Central Park and then simply strolled out like anybody else.

Just a hunch, but I'd look into what his wife has been up to, assuming he is married. Or more likely, if he has been romancing another whose partner isn't so accepting of open relationships. In any case, my hunch is the shooter was hired, and not acting out of his own personal rage.
