26. I completely get what you're saying, but the issue of the case wouldn't be a religious one

Marriage, for many people, is a religious thing. Many people feel the same way this judge does that marriage is a heterosexual thing from the bible and blah blah blah.

Being asked to decide an eviction case or contract dispute, does not necessarily involve a conflict of religious beliefs. Religious accommodations doesn't apply in all circumstances. A party of a case simply existing as LGBTQ does not raise a conflict.

For those circumstances, like officiating a same-sex marriage, I think a religious accommodation can apply unless there is literally no other judge available.

I talked about this some time ago with the example being my mother's hometown. My mom is from small rural town in Georgia. There is only one judge in the county. If that judge refuses, then what? My response to that is he wouldn't get a religious accommodation in that case, because he's the only judge. It is not possible to accommodate him.
