In the "new" America the very rich, the very powerful, or the very celebrated are allowed to commit crimes and be judged, possibly, later and then to shrug them off as inconsequential, unimportant or too far in the past.

This is so unlike the treatment of, for example, a Black person with a toy gun, no gun, or simply walking, driving or existing in the "wrong" place at the "wrong" time. This person can be judged, shot and dismissed in an instant with almost no consequence.
