9. 20 years ago, the accumulation of wealth by the few was the primary problem, now the consequences are hitting hard

Those wealthy few are now ultra-super-mega wealthy and re-focusing on leveraging their wealth into raw political power, especially control and influence over the *cough cough* "poorly educated". For convenience and caution, the wealthy have aligned with religious fanatics, misogynists, and racists, who now form an effective front line in the assault on democracy while the wealthy call their plays from the backfield.
