I never get tired of seeing this post and I bookmarked it this time.

Another source of courage for me is that I recently read a mesmerizing, powerful book about the murder of Emmett Till entitled "The Barn: The Secret History of a Murder in Mississippi" by Wright Thompson. I didn't realize that there were a number of critical eye- and ear-witnesses to what happened that night. Those people took unimaginable risk by stepping forward, telling their stories, sticking to them under immense pressure, and testifying at the sham trial. Some of them had to flee the area due to threats of violence. The book really puts you in their shoes so the reader can vicariously experience the pressure cooker of threat and trauma. And on top of that is the enormous strength and perseverance of Emmett's mother, which is justifiably and famously celebrated and honored.
