(2,906 posts)...the Wall Street Journal. There was a time, pre-Murdoch, when the WSJ kept a clear boundary between its newsgathering and editorial functions. They were always known for their insane op-eds, which in those days came from the furthest-right neocons they could find, but their business news reporting was beyond reproach. After Murdoch bought the paper, it appears to have become Fox-ified to the point where at least some of the news coverage has the same slant as the editorial page.
If any other reporter has confirmed the WSJ "senile Joe" story, I haven't seen it. I count on the "Breaking News" and "General DIscussion" sections at DU--which have the broadest selection of news sources anywhere--and as far as I know, there has been no other coverage of this story outside of "Murdoch world".
