In early Abrahamaic cultures, the earliest oral traditions written down indicate that the God(s)of the land that tribes in that area believed in was not so concerned about the sex as the power of the social hierarchy. Those in a position of power - or representing the head of a family, tribe, or religious elder, could not take a massive or receiving role in sex.
A head of the household - or his heirs - could have sex with any person considered of age (as young as 8) that is socially below him and not be unclean so long as he was the one doing the penetration.
A person in a leadership position who allowed himself to be penetrated became unclean, and his uncleanliness would end up polluting the land itself, thereby cursing the tribe and the land if sufficient atonement was not made.

That turned into "No homosexuality" later on after the Romans went Xtian for political power purposes. Not only that, but early Christians thought Jesus would return within a couple decades of his Crucifixion, and both Peter and Paul preached "Why have kids if we're all going to God anyway? You won't need them to keep your name or take care of anyone. Just be Chaste so you can be pure when God takes you Home."

I'm pretty sure (though McClellan doesn't say this) that this was "change" in sexual policy from "don't get penetrated" to "heterosexual Missionary Only" was and still is known and understood to be the basis for why the clerics and nobles in Judaism, Christianity and Islam get away with homosexuality and pedophilia in their communities and people with little to no power literally get screwed if they try to enjoy the company of those they love.

Just a couple thoughts on the background to those perverted jerks.
