I once worked with a fine man (wealthy, white, Ivy League) who was very enlightened and intelligent. But he was very surprised, when he watched the show Mad Men, how badly the women were treated in the early 60’s business world. He was old enough to have lived through it, but didn’t see it at the time. I guess it was “just the way things are” and obviously it didn’t affect him, so it just didn’t register. I do believe that men today - at least the ones worth knowing- are much more aware of inequities.
