(9,212 posts)I had mine so long ago I dont remember which ones I had. However, I also read that they may recommend it if you are traveling to areas where you may be exposed or if you were exposed. Anyway, Im going to argue with my doctor that because of the craziness here that I could end up being exposed to it and I dont want to wait for an outbreak when I may not be able to get a booster, etc. if she wont approve it Im going to do my best to get it somewhere else.
You have to understand that vaccines do not last forever. For instance, if its over 50 years since you had the original vaccine, you should get a booster. You can get titres to see if your immunity is low, however, my veterinarians have told me for my cats that they are not reliable to tell for sure whether you/ they have real immunity. In addition, I think its a lot more expensive to get a titre (and it has to be approved) than it is to just get the vaccine booster. Most vaccines have time frames for how long they are supposed to last. I was just discussing this with a friend about shingrix
. Its supposed to last 7 to 10 years.
Yes, agree anybody in any capacity in the medical profession and some other professions should do something else if they have issues with vaccines- certainly they should not be in charge of administering them to other people if theyre going to be trying to scare them, etc.
