https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2025/02/04/guantanamo-bay-immigrants-deportation-flights/"Less than one week after President Donald Trump suggested detaining tens of thousands of migrants at Guantánamo Bay Naval Base, dozens of tents have gone up, troops have flown in from North Carolina and the first few detainees were en route Tuesday.
... Last week, Trump ordered the construction of a detention camp at Guantánamo Bay that he said could hold 30,000 people, nearly doubling ICEs detention capacity. ICE has detention capacity in the United States for about 40,000 immigrants, with about 2,000 beds at the largest facilities in its network.
Satellite images reveal that around 59 tents measuring about 18 feet by 36 feet have been erected at the base in recent days, along with 31 smaller structures, according to a Washington Post review of imagery from Planet Labs.
... We appreciate the partnership of the DOD in getting that up to the level that it needs to get to in order to facilitate this repatriation of people back to their countries, Noem said in an interview with NBC Newss Meet the Press that aired Sunday. So remember that Guantánamo Bay, clearly, by this president, has said that it will hold the worst of the worst, that we are going after those bad actors.

OP
So they're going to "concentrate" various populations in these "camps"? They'll be "interned" there?

Hegseth said in the article it was just "temporary transit" until paperwork and travel arrangements are made

No court will do that, the lease is pretty much absolute and doesn't expire unless both sides agree to terminate it

They can call it a lease but it does not change the fact we are unwanted.
